Upcoming Sermons

In September we'll be looking at three psalms together. For four Sundays in October and November I'll be doing sermons in partnership with some of you. November ends with a Thanksgiving sermon and communion before Advent.

September 9th
Selections from Psalm 139

The Lord Knows You Inside & Out
Okay, so God knows us inside and out, upside and down, like the palm of his giant hand. What does that mean to you and me on, say, a Tuesday afternoon.

September 16th
Baby dedication and memorial service for our country following the great tragedy in New York and Washington

September 23rd
Guest Preacher

Bill Bruster of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will be preaching at Covenant the day before he leads a minister's retreat at our church.

September 30th
Selections from Psalm 91

Living in a Refuge
Living in the shelter and refuge of the Most High God is not like living on a reservation. God's protection is protection you can count on.

October 7th
A sermon on stewardship
Coinciding with our annual budget vote, we'll spend one Sunday morning talking together about our money and how we spend it.

October 14th
Communion Sunday

Partnership Sermons
For the next four weeks, I'll be preaching in partnership with some of you. Four Covenant people work with me to listen to God's word. One of these will choose the text for each day. They will read the text all week along with me. We'll eat lunch on Friday and share our insights into the meaning of God's word. My sermon will come from my reading of scripture and our conversation during that lunch.

Thanksgiving Sermon

Remember when the words "access" and "disrespect" used to be nouns? Our culture is always turning nouns into verbs. I'd like to see us do the same thing with "Thanksgiving". Thanksgiving is an action word. It's high time we "Thanksgive" the Lord.

November 25th
Communion Sunday
